I know it's a bit past Christmas but I just found these pictures on my camera.
Mum had some orange taper candles and asked me to make a Christmas-y table decoration.
(the orange is because we have an orange feature wall in the kitchen)
I spent hours researching ideas and was so troubled. So I went down to the local craft store for inspiration. I found some pine cones, some bits and bobs, but really I was still stumped.
After a whole day of ...what to do what to do, I decided to give it a rest.
The next morning I went back at it trying to figure out what to do. How am I going to make this work? How do I have the candles standing upright and what do I put around them?!
I started searching through all the cupboards in the house searching for something to set the candles and decorations in. It's worth noting that my kitchen is black and white (as well as the aforementioned orange wall).
I was getting desperate...I was looking in clothing cupboards, pantries and kitchen drawers.
When suddenly...it hit me. I finally figured out what the hell I was going to do.
Mini casserole dishes! We have the perfect ones!
So I modeled some clay into a cone to hold the candle in, placed it in a casserole dish and covered with holy, ferns, wooden beads, pine cones and whatever else I could find that looked Christmas-y.
Here's the results of two full days of thinking and about half an hour of actual work.
Yes they are on the ground, the table was a bit of a mess when I took the photos.
