They were eating the bird food that was set out for my birds!

It was amazing to be so close to these animals, lately I have been obsessing over birds and this was so great to experience!

I can't wait to get a hand-reared bird!

Boggled by Binders

You know wha really grinds my gears?

Whoever decided that 2 ring binders are sufficient. theyre scrappy, haphazard and down-right uncontrollable. Yet they still exist.

Some asshat out there thinks they're good enough to keep producing.

They're undeniably inferior to the 3 ring binders.

And so in order to satisfy my need for colour coordination.

I've had to settle with a fucking 2 ring binder for my biotechnology class.

Because i could not find a three ring binder in the colour orange.

Wildlife

Baby Tawny Frogmouth.
This little grumpy guts was found at the base of a tree in Mont Albert. I drove it to Healsville for it to grow up. It was released to the wild once it was old enough to live on its own.

Young Perigrene Falcon.
One of the most badass birds. Can reach speeds of up to 389km/h (242mph) on its stoop, and up to 110km/h (68mph) horizontal speeds. 
Took this bad boy to Healsville. It turns out they didn't need one for their exhibit so they rehabilitated it until it was old enough to fend for itself.

 This little guy stole my heart. A baby Common Brushtail Possum. He was so curious! 

He was found at the base of a tree and the  mother was nowhere to be found. I took him to a shelter who had another Brushtail around the same age that could grow up together :)

Quack!
One of my most difficult rescues. 
Mother duck laid her eggs in someones backyard only to discover there was no way for them to leave!
We tried to catch the mother multiple times but she kept flying away. After a few hours we had to take the ducklings to a shelter to grow up without their mother :(

A far too common sight.
This Brushtail was hit by a car and was lying on the nature strip to die in agony. I immediately took it to a Veterinary where it was assessed. It was in too bad a state to go through rehab so it was euthanised :(

I don't know the story behind this Galah. From what I can see it appears to be a female. She was very patient on her trip from one shelter to another. 

On the other hand, this Rainbow Lorikeet was extraordinarily impatient. 
I strapped the box into my car and all I could hear was SQUAWK! SQUAWK! SQUAWK! 
I got myself into my car and it settled down, until I turned the ignition on and SQUAWK! SQUAWK! SQUAWK!
It calmed down once again, until I put my indicator on and SQUAWK! SQUAWK! SQUAWK!
This went on for a 45 minute car trip. 

Needless to say I was pretty relieved to hand this one over.
